1) Using any web browser go to the WISDOM page and do the following:

  • Enter a User ID, Email Address, Password, Security Question, Security Answer, and Time Zone

An email will be sent to the email address provided in the registration with information on how to confirm the email address. Once the email address has been confirmed, you have been registered for WISDOM and will begin to receive updates.

How will the WISDOM application be financed in the future?
Discussions are taking place with other state and federal agencies as well as industry about maintaining the project into the future.
What hardware is required to run the WISDOM Application?
The WISDOM application is designed to perform largely independent of hardware. A computer with internet access is all that is required.
What software is required to run the WISDOM Application?
A web browser and Adobe Flash Player is all that is required. Both are available as freeware. The website has been tested on Internet Explorer 8 and higher, Firefox and Google Chrome. The WISDOM application runs on Adobe Flash Player version 10 and above, which is required.
What additional Software is helpful when using the WISDOM application?
The web application is designed to use data created with desktop GIS. Features can be uploaded from an esri© Shapefile. All uploads need to have a spatial reference for the web application to correctly convert them.

If I choose to register, is my login secure?
WyGISC web servers have traffic routed to them via the University of Wyoming, Information Technologies (UWIT)’s F5 BIGIP security appliance. The F5 provides secure and monitored HTTP, HTTPS (SSL) and secure FTP traffic for both external web and campus network traffic. External web traffic also has to pass through the UW perimeter firewall.
Who can see the data entered into the application?
You as the user are the only one who can see your data entered. Data are not stored on the system and are not viewable by any other users.
What is the process for approving data layers in WISDOM?
The data presented in WISDOM is overseen by a data management team. See our About section for participants on this team. Data layers included have been approved by the Data Management Team.
Will non-governmental agencies be able to add or change data?
Data Standards and data layers are overseen by the Data Management Team. Data Management Team Agencies and Groups have signed a charter agreeing to maintain and provide data to WISDOM. These datasets can not be changed by others, or by those providing data.
How are data layers updated?
Layers are updated by their source agency on a pre-defined schedule (monthly, semi-annually, or annually) and are therefore checked for updates no less than annually. This DOES NOT MEAN all data are dated to within the past year, this only means data are CHECKED FOR UPDATES IF THOSE UPDATES EXIST FROM THE DATA PROVIDER ENTITY, WHICH MAY NOT BE THE DATA ORIGINATOR. BECAUSE OF THIS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DATA PROVIDER TO WISDOM AND THE DATA ORIGINATOR, DISCREPANCIES MAY OCCUR. Contact data ORIGINATOR directly for most up to date data.
Why are some species rolled up to township but not all?
Only SENSITIVE RECORDS of species are generalized up to the township, not all sensitive species information from the Wyoming Natural Diversity Database (WYNDD). For further information, visit the WYNDD website.
